BIOGRAPHY
Jamie Susskind is the author of Future Politics: Living Together in a World Transformed by Tech (2018). The Evening Standard has written that he “could be one of the great public intellectual rock stars of our time.”
A former Fellow of Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center, Jamie speaks about digital technology (AI and machine learning, blockchain, robotics, Big Data, social media) and its impact on politics, economics, and morality. He is passionate about the future of power, democracy, freedom, and justice. His recent engagements include events at Microsoft, Google, Harvard, Stanford, various professional services firms, investor and private conferences, the Financial Times Summer Festival, and the Carter Presidential Library.
Jamie is a renowned speaker. As a teenager, he was ranked the best debater in the world and became the second commoner in English history to speak at the opposition dispatch box of the House of Lords. At the University of Oxford, he received the Edward Tomlinson Memorial Prize for the best speech delivered at the Oxford Union.
While qualifying as a barrister (courtroom advocate) in England, he was awarded the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn’s most prestigious advocacy prize. By the age of 21 he had written speeches for US Senators and British MPs and run public speaking masterclasses for executives and activists around the world. He is equally comfortable delivering set-piece speeches to large crowds as he is in discussion in more intimate settings.
