BIOGRAPHY

Gabriella Braun is a business author and the Director of Working Well, a specialist consultancy firm using psychoanalytic and systemic insights to help leaders and teams understand the hidden truths of their behaviour at work.

Her book, All That We Are (2022), reveals the hidden truths behind our behaviour at work and how much our unconscious affects our professional lives. It shows that, try as we might, we cannot leave part of ourselves under the pillow with our pyjamas when we go to work. We bring all that we are. In a collection of stories, Gabriella shares insights of from over twenty years of taking psychoanalysis out of the therapy room and into the staff room.

At a time when we are re-thinking the workplace, All That We Are shows that by taking human nature seriously, we can build more humane organisations where people and their work flourish.

Gabriella has consulted to hundreds of clients including the British Library, RADA, Tate, Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, University of Cambridge and Queen Mary, University of London.

She is on faculty of an international programme in New York for consultants and coaches, and has led and been a staff member of workshops on leadership and followership in several countries.

GABRIELLA BRAUN: SPEAKER

With the impact of the pandemic adding to the existing mental health crisis, there has never been a more important time to re-set the workplace.

A leading thinker in human nature and the influence of the unconscious in the workplace, Gabriella is passionate about changing the way we work so that organisations bring out the best in their staff.

For too long, we have skimmed the surface of understanding how our minds work and why we behave as we do. If we are to capture this moment of potential change, we need to re-think our approach to people at work. Gabriella’s expertise and insights will be invaluable to all those wanting to develop workplaces in which people flourish.

Her keynotes are customised, so they engage each audience. She delivers them with authenticity and clarity, covering themes ranging from psychological recovery from covid, humanising the workplace and the unconscious influence in organisational culture. She’s also an excellent panellist and interviewer.

PRAISE FOR “ALL THAT WE ARE”

“A remarkable book … it will move you and awaken a new respect for your colleagues and even your employer … Braun moves effortlessly between memoir and professional insights and the result is – like all workplace dramas – gripping.” — Isabel Berwick, Financial Times

“ALL THAT WE ARE is without doubt one of the most important books about the workplace ever published. It lays bare the profound emotional context we all bring to work and how to resolve inner conflicts with colleagues, and indeed ourselves.” — Julia Hobsbawm, founder, Editorial Intelligence and author of THE NOWHERE OFFICE

“Such a compassionate and discerning book. This rich work weaves in Gabriella Braun’s own intriguing journey and psychodynamic theory. It has the potential to make organisations and teams more thoughtful about why they struggle and deserves a wide audience” — Gwen Adshead, author of THE DEVIL YOU KNOW

“This powerful, sensitive and timely book reveals what really happens within and between people at work. The emotional life of individuals and teams is often underestimated, but Gabriella Braun’s insightful understanding demonstrates that we do indeed bring “all that we are” to work. She shows that taking human nature seriously, including unconscious elements, makes all the difference to the health of our organisations and our lives at work. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.” — Mike Brearley, former captain of England Cricket and President of the British Psychoanalytical Society
